Layout before finish
The best-looking kitchen still has to work at 7am. We plan the storage runs, the path between sink, cooktop and fridge, and the prep zones before any finishes are locked in — so the room is easy to live in, not just nice to look at.
- 02
Cabinetry-led renovations
Cabinetry sets the proportions, the storage and the sightlines of the whole room, so we keep it central to the plan. Made-to-measure cabinets use awkward corners properly, fit appliances cleanly and carry the kitchen through to nearby living areas — without the gaps and fillers you get with flat-pack.
- 03
Materials and finishes
We work in materials that wear well in a busy family kitchen: natural-stone and porcelain benchtops, tile, glass or stone splashbacks, and cabinetry in shaker, flat-panel or handleless profiles. The bench, splashback, doors and hardware are chosen together so the room reads as one considered palette.

What shapes the cost of a kitchen renovation
As a general guide, kitchen renovations in Sydney usually range from around $15,000–$30,000 for a budget update that keeps the existing layout, $35,000–$60,000 for a mid-range custom kitchen, and $60,000–$100,000 or more for a premium reconfiguration with higher-end finishes — the Sydney average sits in the mid-$40,000s. Where your project lands depends on the size of the kitchen and the length of the cabinetry run, the door style and finish, the benchtop material (laminate, natural stone or porcelain), whether the layout moves plumbing, gas or electrical, and how much appliance integration you want. Every kitchen is different, so we price each one on its own scope — send a photo and a short brief and we'll come back with an exact quote.

Good to know
Kitchen Renovations questions
The questions we hear most often, kept close to the service so the brief, scope and next step stay clear before you get in touch.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
Most kitchen renovations take a few weeks on site once the cabinetry is built, plus the design and build lead time beforehand. The timeline depends on the size of the kitchen, whether the layout changes, and any plumbing or electrical work. You get a realistic schedule with your quote.
What does a kitchen renovation include?
A typical H&R kitchen renovation covers layout planning, custom cabinetry, benchtops, splashbacks, appliance and sink integration, removal of the old kitchen and full installation. It can also be scoped as a cabinetry-only upgrade if the existing layout still works.
Do kitchen renovation, remodelling and remodeling mean the same thing?
They describe the same project — improving an existing kitchen. We'll talk through the layout, cabinetry, surfaces and installation scope when you enquire.
Can you renovate a kitchen without changing the layout?
Yes. If the existing layout works, we can replace the cabinetry, benchtops and splashbacks while keeping the plumbing and appliances roughly where they are. It is a faster, lower-cost path to a new kitchen.
What benchtop should I choose for a kitchen renovation?
Porcelain and sintered stone are hard-wearing, low-maintenance all-rounders; natural stone like granite or marble suits a higher-end finish; laminate keeps the budget down. Engineered or quartz stone is no longer an option, as it has been banned in Australia since 1 July 2024, so we work with these instead and help you weigh durability, look and cost against how you use the kitchen.
Which parts of Sydney do you renovate kitchens in?
We renovate kitchens for homes right across Sydney — send your suburb with your enquiry and we'll happily confirm the detail.
Client feedback
Homeowners on working with H&R Kitchens.
H&R Kitchens made the whole renovation feel a lot less stressful than we expected. They listened to what we wanted, helped us make practical choices, and kept us updated the whole way through. The finished kitchen feels modern but still really suits our home.
We're really happy with the quality of the cabinetry and the attention to detail. A few tricky corners in our kitchen were handled really well, and the final result looks clean, solid, and professionally finished. It's made a huge difference to how we use the space.
From the first measure-up to the final install, the team were easy to deal with and very clear about what was happening. They gave helpful advice without pushing us into anything, and the kitchen turned out better than we had pictured.
