Terrace kitchen renovations
Tall storage, drawer-based base cabinets and a disciplined galley or one-wall plan can give a narrow room more capacity while keeping the path to the rear of the home clear.
Inner West kitchens often have to solve narrow terrace proportions, older additions and limited site access without losing the character of the home. H&R Kitchens plans cabinetry around the measured room and the way it is used. H&R has completed kitchens in Burwood, Five Dock and Strathfield.

Kitchen renovations
We start with how the room is used, what needs to change and the practical access for the property.
From the harbourside peninsulas to the rail-corridor suburbs, the Inner West contains terraces, Federation homes, apartments, semis and newer infill developments within a relatively compact area. The kitchen may sit in a narrow rear addition, open directly to a courtyard or share one continuous room with dining and living space. Storage, circulation and natural light need to be planned together.
Tall storage, drawer-based base cabinets and a disciplined galley or one-wall plan can give a narrow room more capacity while keeping the path to the rear of the home clear.
These homes often allow a wider kitchen but still benefit from cabinetry scaled to original openings, ceiling heights and adjoining rooms. Shaker or flat-panel profiles can be chosen to sit naturally with the house rather than imitate it.
Fixed services and unusual wall dimensions reward accurate custom cabinetry. We plan storage and appliances around the available envelope, then coordinate delivery against the building's access rules.
Price guide
The price depends most on how much cabinetry the room takes, whether the layout or services change, the benchtop, splashback and appliances you choose, and the access to the home. We measure the room and give you a written quote before any work starts.

How it works
We measure on site, then settle the layout, storage, surfaces and appliances with you. Usually about 2–6 weeks.
Your cabinetry is made to the confirmed measurements before the old kitchen comes out. Usually about 4–8 weeks.
We remove the old kitchen and install the new cabinetry, with the plumbing and electrical work sequenced around it. Usually about a week on site.
Stone and porcelain benchtops are templated once the cabinets are fixed, then the splashback and final adjustments follow. Usually about 1–2 weeks.
Before you enquire
Short answers to the questions that commonly shape the first conversation.
Yes. We measure the room and protect the main circulation route first, then plan full-height storage, drawers and the preparation run. A carefully planned galley or one-wall kitchen often works better than forcing in an island.
The delivery route and protection requirements are reviewed before installation. Depending on the site, cabinetry may need to be carried through the house in a planned sequence rather than brought in from the rear.
It depends on the property and proposed work. Internal cabinetry replacement can be different from structural work or changes affecting significant fabric. Check the current council and planning requirements for the renovation.
As a planning guide, a smaller replacement with limited layout changes typically costs around $25,000–$35,000, a more involved renovation with upgraded cabinetry and finishes $35,000–$60,000, and complex, high-specification work $60,000–$100,000 or more. The layout, the amount of cabinetry, the benchtop and splashback materials, appliances and any plumbing or electrical changes make the difference. Your written quote is based on your measured room.
A typical full kitchen renovation takes about 10–14 weeks from the first measure to handover. Most of that is design and making the cabinetry in our workshop; you are usually without a working kitchen for about 2–4 weeks while the old kitchen comes out, the new one goes in and the benchtops and splashback are fitted. Your quote includes a schedule for your kitchen.
Often, yes. We check the room, the walkways and where the plumbing, gas and power run, then show you what moving the sink or cooktop, or adding an island, would involve before you decide.
