Wardrobes

Wardrobes & Storage Sydney

A good wardrobe should make getting dressed easier and the bedroom feel calmer — and we plan the storage around what you actually own, then build and fit it as part of the room rather than a box pushed against the wall.

A wardrobe earns its keep by making everyday storage simple, so it has to suit the room and the way you use it. H&R Kitchens builds built-in wardrobes for homes across Sydney, from a single bedroom robe to walk-in wardrobes and whole-home storage — fitted interiors, linen cupboards and robe doors, with the shelving, drawers, hanging zones and shoe storage all designed, built and installed in-house.

  1. 01

Storage planned around what you own

A wardrobe only works if the inside is right, so we start with what actually needs a home — long-hanging coats and dresses, shirts, folded knits, shoes, bags and the bits that end up on the floor. We then set the balance of hanging, shelving and drawers around that, rather than filling the space with one default layout.

  2. 02

Built in to the wall, not parked against it

Made-to-measure cabinetry uses the full wall width and ceiling height, so there is no dead space above the robe and no awkward gaps down the sides. We scribe the cabinetry to the wall and run it floor to ceiling where the room allows — for a built-in robe, a walk-in fit-out or a run of linen and hallway storage that reads as part of the home.

  3. 03

    Materials and finishes

We work in finishes that hold up to daily opening and closing: durable board carcasses, soft-close drawers and hinges, and doors in shaker, flat-panel or handleless profiles. Robe doors can be hinged, sliding or mirrored, with timber, melamine or painted fronts and brushed-nickel or matt-black handles, so the wardrobe sits with the rest of the bedroom rather than standing out from it.

  4. 04

What shapes the cost of built-in wardrobes

The main cost drivers are the size of the wardrobe and the length of the run, whether it is a single built-in robe or a full walk-in fit-out, the door style and finish, and how detailed the interior is — more drawers, shoe storage, accessory fittings and soft-close hardware add to it. We talk these trade-offs through early so your quote matches the wardrobe you actually want.

Good to know

Wardrobes & Storage questions

The questions we hear most often, kept close to the service so the brief, scope and next step stay clear before you get in touch.

How long does a built-in wardrobe take?

Most wardrobes take a day or two on site to install once the cabinetry is built, plus the design and build lead time beforehand. The timeline depends on the size of the robe, whether it is a built-in or a walk-in fit-out, and how detailed the interior is. You get a realistic schedule with your quote.

What is included in a built-in wardrobe?

A built-in wardrobe usually includes the cabinetry, robe doors and a fitted interior — hanging zones, shelving, drawers and shoe storage planned around what you keep. We measure, build and install it, and can extend the same joinery to linen cupboards and other storage in the home.

What is the difference between a built-in and a walk-in wardrobe?

A built-in wardrobe sits flush against a bedroom wall behind doors, while a walk-in is a room you step into with open or part-open shelving and hanging. The interiors are similar; the walk-in just needs the floor space. We can advise which suits your room when you enquire.

Can you fit out an existing wardrobe or walk-in robe?

Yes. If the space is sound, we can design and install a new interior — hanging, shelving, drawers and shoe storage — without rebuilding the whole robe. It is a faster way to make a wardrobe work harder, and we will confirm what suits the space at the measure.

What robe doors can I choose for a custom wardrobe?

Hinged, sliding and mirrored doors are all options, in shaker, flat-panel or handleless profiles. Sliding doors suit tight rooms where a hinged door would be in the way; mirrored fronts save a separate mirror. We help you weigh the look, the room and how the door opens.

Which parts of Sydney do you build wardrobes in?

We build built-in wardrobes and storage joinery for homes right across Sydney — send your suburb with your enquiry and we'll happily confirm the detail.

Client feedback

Homeowners on working with H&R Kitchens.

From the first measure-up to the final install, the team were easy to deal with and very clear about what was happening. They gave helpful advice without pushing us into anything, and the kitchen turned out better than we had pictured.
Sophie and Mark T.★★★★★September 2025
Our old kitchen was awkward and didn't have enough storage. H&R Kitchens came up with a layout that made much better use of the space, and the workmanship is excellent. Everything feels sturdy, well fitted, and built to last.
Anthony P.★★★★★November 2025
What stood out most was the communication. We always knew when trades were coming, what stage the job was at, and what decisions we needed to make. The kitchen looks beautiful, but it's also really practical for everyday family use.
