Kitchen Benchtops

Kitchen benchtops for Eastgardens homes.

Apartment benchtops are often visible from the living room, so the material, edge and join positions matter, and slab sizes must suit the lift and the building's access.

Replacement benchtops

New benchtops fitted over existing cabinetry, with the sink and cooktop cut-outs measured on site.

Thin porcelain and sintered stone

Lighter slabs with a fine edge that suit compact kitchens and handle heat and stains well.

Benchtop and splashback together

A matching slab splashback or a tile chosen with the benchtop, fitted at the same time.

Planning the work in Eastgardens

  • Access and deliveryStone and porcelain slabs need lift and loading-dock access sized for them, so confirm the building's booking rules and lift dimensions before the benchtop is measured.

Before you enquire

Kitchen benchtop questions in Eastgardens.

Can you replace just the benchtop?

Usually, yes. We check the cabinetry is level and sound, measure the new benchtop on site and plan the sink and tap work so the kitchen is out of use for as short a time as possible.

What is the best benchtop material for a Sydney kitchen?

It depends on how you use the kitchen. Porcelain and sintered stone are the hard-wearing all-rounders for a consistent look and low upkeep, natural stone like marble adds real character but wants a little more care, and laminate or timber suit tighter budgets or a warmer feel. The exact product specification matters for both care and compliance. We help you weigh these up against your cabinetry and how the kitchen gets used.

Can I still get an engineered or quartz stone benchtop in Australia?

Not a new one that meets the legal definition. Since 1 July 2024, Australia has banned the manufacture, supply, processing and installation of engineered stone benchtops containing at least 1% crystalline silica. Porcelain and sintered stone without resin are excluded, so check the exact product’s specification. H&R works with laminate, timber, natural stone and porcelain or sintered surfaces. An existing engineered stone benchtop does not have to be removed because of the ban.

Can you replace just the benchtop without redoing the whole kitchen?

Potentially. The existing cabinets first need to be checked for condition, level and support. We can then specify the replacement surface, sink and cooktop cut-outs against the retained cabinets and fitting requirements.

What is a waterfall benchtop and does it cost more?

A waterfall benchtop runs the same surface down the side of an island to the floor, with a mitred join at the corner so the pattern continues. It uses more material and extra fabrication for the mitre, so it does add to the cost — we price it as part of the overall quote.
